To complement it's school-based initiatives, the Golf Foundation operates a range of initiatives under the banner of HSBC Golf Roots designed to stimulate and encourage opportunities for beginners at golf clubs and facilities.

The Golf Foundation provides support to clubs and facilities keen to undertake out-reach work and then welcome new participants to their venue. The approved HSBC Golf Roots Centres are eligible to apply for grant-aid and the Golf Foundation's team of Regional Development Officers is available to provide advice on how to link with school and community groups.

The Junior Golf Passport is a comprehensive coaching programme that PGA instructors can use to structure learning, monitor progress and reward achievement. Young golfers are taught about the five core elements of the game and are presented with targets to work towards that get progressively more challenging.

Teachers, club volunteers and others are able to access training workshops which provide ideas about how to work effectively with children and young people. Those attending are provided with a variety of ideas that can be used when delivering a junior golf programme.

The Golf Foundation administers an HSBC Golf Roots Community Gran-aid programmes through which schools, clubs and other organisations are able to access funding for their projects.
